THE PROGRAM
THE PROGRAM is
designed to impact every aspect of health and sports performance with the
intent of increasing athleticism while ultimately contributing to a healthier
life. THE PROGRAM is designed around the following model:
PROGRAM MODEL
(IPE+IEE) + (EPE+EEE) x T -->
Total health/sports performance
IPE = Internal Physical Environment - level of integrity
of the immune, structural and neurological systems IEE = Internal
Emotional Environment - attitude, self worth, drive EPE = External
Physical Environment - physical security, sensory input (what one sees, hears,
etc.) EEE = External Emotional Environment - quality of home
life, support systems, relationships, etc. T = Time - the cumulative effect over
time (hours, days, weeks, years) of health choices made, environmental factors,
and relationships with self and others.
THE PROGRAM model
emphasizes the comprehensive and integrated nature of health and how we
function as human beings. For instance, relative to athletics, physically
conditioning an athlete with a less than optimal attitude or immune system is
not offering the athlete the highest probability of success on or off the
field. THE PROGRAM exposes young athletes to the concept that every aspect of
life and living affects their health, their sports performance, and ultimately
their quality of life.
PROGRAM BACKGROUND
The program represents 20 years of Dr. Grund's
personal experiences as an athlete, doctor, and human being. It incorporates
the techniques he has found most successful in helping people reach their
goals. The 'WHAT' we are offering to young athletes is tools and knowledge for
growth and change. The 'HOW' is a combination of cutting edge technology,
specific techniques, and education coupled with an emphasis on personal
responsibility. Everything presented and delivered in this program is provided
to increase health and athletic performance in the short term while creating
the opportunity to live a healthier life in the long term. The key to success
in THE PROGRAM is the willingness of each participant to take an active role in
the improvement of their health and well being.
THE PROGRAM is
'comprehensive' which means it is far more than a conditioning course or work
out. THE PROGRAM is the equivalent of a college level course in sports
performance, injury prevention, and health, with its own curriculum and
required work. If a participant applies him/herself, he/she can expect to
achieve improvement in the following areas:
- Toughness and
intensity
- Strength and
conditioning
- Speed &
quickness
- Balance and
coordination
- Focus and
concentration
- Brain
function
- Confidence and
personal responsibility
- Understanding and
knowledge of nutrition, hydration and supplementation
- A direct experience
of increased structural and neurological integrity
- Understanding of the
relationship between attitude and performance
- Understanding of the
brain/body connection
PROGRAM METHOD

GETTING T.O.U.G.H.
THE PROGRAM is about making
informed, positive choices, and living up to one's potential. Our experience
shows that young people enjoy and thrive when they are given the support,
guidance, and knowledge necessary to succeed. By holding these young athletes
accountable to standards and goals they have established, we give them a
reference for future endeavors outside of sports. Practicing and becoming
T.O.U.G.H. (Tenacious, Optimistic, Uncompromising, Goal oriented and Hungry) is
what THE PROGRAM is all about.
